The OVE initiative http://www.scienceclip.at was started back in the year 2012 with the main aim to attract pupils for science and engineering studies. In the course of 2017 the project-website has been completely redesigned resulting in an extension of services and possibilities to interact. Clippy, the meanwhile well-loved Science Cat, has been introduced in order to put a face to ScienceClip.at.

Austrian Chapter of IGS – International stand- ardization session in Vienna
Founded in the course of the 10th International Conference on Geosynthetics“ in Berlin in September 2014, the Austrian Chapter of IGS (International Geosynthetics Society) hosted an international standardization session in Vienna in April 2017. The technical committee TC 221 of the ISO met in the “House of Engineers and Architects”. Engineers and experts from the elds of research and industry from 12 countries came to Vienna to discuss the international standardization of design approaches for geosynthetics..
New Engineering Law
The new Austrian Engineers’ Law (IngG) was enacted on 1 May 2017. This implied many activities regarding the new certi cation process to evaluate the professional engineering experience. The Austrian Organization of Engineers (VOI) is involved in this project and will establish an information centre for candidates. The new law (IngG) and the thus established procedure of the validation of the professional experience involves a classi cation of the engineer in stage 6 of the NQF resp. EQF. So, for the rst time, a procedure was implemented that enables comprehensible validation of non-formal learning content used for classi cation in the EQF. The rst engineers have already been certi ed based on the new law.
