Croatia Engineering Day - 2nd March
In 2016 and 2017 HIS organized for the 2nd and 3rd time the national event “Croatian Engineering Day” on 2nd March, always the same date, the date of the foundation in 1878. In collaboration with Croatian Academy of Engineering and under the auspice of the Government of Croatia the event gathering participants from all over the country from universities and companies. The main topics always match the hosting Faculty. In 2016 it was Faculty of Electrical and Computing so the topic was “Croatian Energy Strategy Priorities” and in 2017 the topic was
“The role of wood technology and forestry in circular economy”, at the Faculty of Forestry. The active role and interference of Croatian engineers and scientists for the economic recovery and future perspectives were emphasized.
New members
EYE HR; The idea to found an organisation of young engineers within HIS framework was born at EYE conference in Bristol, in June 2017. European Young Engineers Croatia. EYE HR, became the new HIS member in December 2017. A group of enthusiasts and young engineers, together with HIS, started activities to establish EYE HR. Statutes & By-laws were adopted by General Assembly, in December 2017 and all necessary activities were performed before attending the EYE Council meeting in Luxembourg, on January 13th 2018, where EYE HR is expected to became the new EYE member.
Other new members are: Croatian Association of Energy Assessors (HUEC), Croatian Association of Professionals in Nature and Environmental Protection (HUSZPO) and Croatian Society of Biotechnology (HDB).
HIS payed a special attention in forming a new society: ”Croatian Diaspora Engineers”, which is in line with HIS efforts in strengthening national, European and global relationship. Croatia has many engineers working outside of Croatia. Closer relation and contacts are in the interest of both sides.
In conclusion, Croatian Engineering Association; HIS, expect even better results in future pursuant to HIS knowledge and experience and international cooperation in building synergy for the right competence and skill of engineers, today and in the future. We will continue to support engineers in their involvement in building prosperity in Croatia, Europe and wider.
