At the end of the holidays it became clear that there is a small decrease in the number of female applicants to the technical universities in Sweden. The last ten years there has been a steady increase in the number of female appli- cants from 24 percent to about 29 percent. It remains to be seen if this year’s decrease is a new trend.
22 591 persons have applied to start studying to get a Master in Science of Engineering this autumn and 12 853 have applied to get a Bachelor in Science of Engineering.
Mrs Laila Abdallah, who has been the General Secretary of the Swedish National Committee of FEANI left Sveriges Ingenjörer in April to take on the position as International Secretary of Saco, the Swedish Confederation of Professional Associations. Her successor is Mrs Jenny Grensman. 
