Engineers Week 2017
The period started with the annual’ Engineers Week’ from 24 February to 2 March: a week-long festival of nationwide events celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland. The event is coordinated on a national basis by Engineers Ireland’s STEPS programme – a strategic partner of Science Foundation Ireland’s (SFI) Smart Futures Programme. The aims of the week include:
1. Encourage young people, their teachers and parents to explore the fun world of engineering.
2. Generate interest and enthusiasm for engineering in their everyday lives.
3. Inspire young people to explore engineering career paths. 4. Highlight the diverse opportunities engineering offers.
This year was our most successful ever with:
• 63,254 participants
• 786 events
• 177 participating organisations
• Over 1,000 Engineers Ireland volunteers.

The Institution of Engineers of Ireland was established by Act of Government in 1969 and operates under the name of Engineers Ireland.

The Engineers Ireland Annual Conference was held in Tullamore with the theme Challenges and Opportunities: Flooding and Renewable Energy in 2017’. There were a number of expert speakers from industry and overseas.
